Algal factsheet: Chodatella (Oocystaceae)


Diagnostic features

Ovoid unicells which have several obvious spines extending from each end, and containing green chloroplasts.  May resemble Golenkinia or Micractinium if the cells are clumped together (giving the appearance of spines radiating from all directions).

Typical habitats

Found in the plankton of lakes and ponds
