Diagnostic features
Small to moderate size ovoid cells, each with a single green chloroplast lacking pyrenoids. May form colonies in mucilage, or occur singly. Some species divide on an oblique plane which is easy to recognise when present.

May be free floating, or attached to the surfaces of plants, rocks or soil.Notes
