Neotryphera atra Malloch, 1938, orig. des. [CMNZ].Diagnosis
Characteristics of Neotryphera include: 1. Body size ± 4mm; 2; Lower squama tongue shaped; not touching scutellum; 3. This character is shared with Trypherina, but differs by long, irregular costal bristles reaching well past R1 into CS3; 4. I have seen one species with similar squamae, but with a long pedicel possibly belonging to Gracilicera.Distribution in NZ
South Island: BR, CO, MB, MC, MK, NN, OL.
