Characteristics of Truphia include: 1.Body size 3mm; 2. The genus can easily be recognised and distinguished from other New Zealand tachinid genera by the wing vein M not reaching the wing margin in Truphia grisea, or M only slightly curved upwards to wing margin in the undescribed species and cell r4+5 wide open.Distribution in NZ
North Island: AK, BP; South Island: CO, MC, MK, SD.
