Trypherina grisea Malloch, 1938, orig. designation and monotypy [type according to Miller (1950) in USNM, could not be located].Diagnosis
Characteristics of Trypherina include: 1.Body size 4 – 6mm; 2; Lower squama tongue shaped; not touching scutellum; 3. This character is shared with Neotryphera, but differs by costa having only one outstanding bristle at subcostal joint; 4. I have seen one species with similar squamae, but with a long pedicel possibly belonging to Gracilicera.Distribution in NZ
North Island: GB, ND, TO; South Island: CO, FD, MC, MB, NC, NN, OL, SC, SD, SL.
