Waste Audits

Prior to the 2015 bi-annual waste audits were completed by members of the site sustainability groups.
Staff from each site sorted the waste and recorded results on a waste audit data sheet including:
- the period of time the waste was collected for,
- the total unsorted weight of the waste,
- any potentially hazardous items, and
- the sorted weight of waste by category - recyclable, compostable and non-recyclable.
At our 2015 carbon emissions verification audit the level of waste to landfill as a percentage of our total carbon emissions was so low, due to the active engagement of Landcare Research staff, be considered de minimis.
As such our waste to landfill will now be monitored formally via the information we receive from our contractors and informally via our site sustainability groups.
