Dr Richard Gordon has been appointed to the position of Chief Executive of Crown Research Institute, Landcare Research
Dr Gordon has been the Acting Chief Executive of Landcare Research for the past three months.
“The Board has been most impressed with the way that Richard has headed the organisation since taking over on an interim basis in February,” says Landcare Research Chair, Jo Brosnahan.
“Following an assessment of the market, we are delighted to appoint him to the permanent role.
“Richard has managed challenging strategic issues such as the developments flowing from the Government’s CRI Taskforce reforms, and with more than 15 years’ experience with Landcare Research, has the trust and respect of staff and external stakeholders. He has demonstrated the vision and leadership necessary to continue the successful growth of our organisation.”
Prior to February, Richard had been Landcare Research’s General Manager Environment and Society. Since joining the organisation in 1995 he has worked in a variety of senior science and management roles, including the early development of products such as the carboNZeroCertTM programme and Landcare Research’s work on corporate sustainability.
