Enviro-Mark NZ
Landcare Research’s Enviro-Mark®NZ programme helps New Zealand businesses improve their environmental performance and gives credible certification for these efforts along the way.
Established in New Zealand in 2001, the Enviro-Mark certification programme helps businesses – both large and small - develop and implement an environmental management system (EMS). It then certifies the organisation after an independent audit for these efforts – all in 5 manageable steps. At the fifth step the business is ISO 14001:2004 ‘ready’ - meaning they can seek certification to this definitive international standard should they wish.
Business manager Charlie Bartlett says the goal of this simple programme is to provide businesses a key point of difference and to help them make bottom line savings – all through sound environmental management.
‘Raising environmental performance and the bottom line is something that most organisations want to do and the Enviro-Mark programme provides the tools to actually do it,’ he says.
Business can work through the five steps – Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond – at their own pace of fast track their certification with Landcare Research’s expert training and consultancy service. Independent audits carried out at each step verify performance and highlight opportunities for improvement. ‘Changing the way your business thinks and acts takes time and effort but Enviro-Mark pays for itself through cost savings and provides your business with a key marketing advantage – something all businesses should be interested in – in these tough times,’ Mr Bartlett says.
‘The Enviro-Mark programme is an investment in your business and a point of difference in highly competitive markets. It is simple, effective and credible.’
