Diagnostic features

Branched filamentous rhodophyte. Stems and branches are multiseriate, and the branch tips are often distinctively curled up. May be pink or red-brown. The main stem attaches by a holdfast to submerged objects.

Typical habitats

Most common in coastal sites with some seawater intrusion
