Diagnostic features
Branched filamentous chlorophyte with a main stem of wide cells supporting short side branches of much narrower cells. The side branches are heavily subdivided and the chloroplasts are parietal green bands (cf. Batrachospermum). Branches end in pointed cells that may support a long hair.Typical habitats
