NZAC facts
NZAC contains:
- specimens of insects and their close relatives from all parts of New Zealand;
- most of the 20,000 species of insects known to occur in New Zealand:
- 90% of these (18,000 species) occur nowhere else in the world;
- about 1 million pinned specimens;
- about 6 million specimens preserved in ethanol fluid;
- many thousands of specimens mounted on microscope slides;
- specimens held in trust for Pacific Island countries.
