Climate change has been described as the defining issue of the 21st Century. Certainly in the past 12 months New Zealanders have become more aware of the challenges inherent in confronting the biological limits to natural resources and of lowering greenhouse gas emissions. These viewpoints discuss some of these sustainability issues from a scientific research perspective, highlighting the role of organisations such as ours in finding solutions to these complex, multi–faceted global problems.
