carboNZero and CEMARS certification programmes
carboNZeroCertTM and CEMARS® (Certified Emissions Measurement And Reduction Scheme) Certification® internationally recognised greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions measurement, reduction and neutrality.
Based on solid science
Developed by Landcare Research, these carbon footprint certification schemes are offered through our wholly-owned subsidiary Enviro-Mark Solutions. The schemes are based on Landcare Research's solid science and international best practice. Enviro-Mark Solutions applies this science to organisations through expert guidance and bespoke software. The schemes are business-tested and ensure consistent and comprehensive carbon reporting, benchmarking and management.
Both the carboNZero programme and CEMARS certification programmes recognise the actions of organisations and products that measure their GHG emissions, understand their carbon liabilities, and put in place management plans to reduce emissions in their organisation and more widely through their supply chain. The carboNZero programme then takes organisations, products, services and events a step further by offering them credible and verified carbon credits to offset their remaining unavoidable emissions. Both programmes issue certification following an independent audit to international standards, including ISO 14064 and PAS 2050.
Good for the environment, good for business
Reducing GHG emissions is good for the environment and good for business because it requires people to make changes to the way they manage energy, water, waste and biodiversity. Furthermore, in taking up the challenge to reduce GHG emissions, businesses are setting out on a sustainability journey that will bring many other benefits. Certification can help organisations meet stakeholder requirements, demonstrate good corporate citizenship, manage risk, develop business efficiencies, achieve cost savings and gain market access.
