Identification keys to New Zealand Heteroptera Genera (Insecta: Hemiptera)

This fully illustrated package of interactive identification keys to Heteroptera genera was prepared using the Lucid Phoenix software. It is a companion tool to the Identification key to New Zealand Heteroptera families published by Larivière (2013) where, in addition to families, 13 genera were keyed as unique family representatives for New Zealand.
The 13 genera keyed in Larivière (2013) are as follows: Acantholybas (Coreidae), Anisops (Notonectidae), Bezu (Berytidae), Ceratocombus (Ceratocombidae), Cimex (Cimicidae), Cymus (Cymidae), Halobates (Gerridae), Heterogaster (Heterogastridae), Hydrometra (Hydrometridae), Hypselosoma (Schizopteridae), Microvelia (Veliidae), Nothochromus (Artheneidae), and Saldula (Saldidae).
The online keys included below allow the identification of a further 32 genera in the following families: Aenictopecheidae and Enicocephalidae (together as Enicocephalomorpha), Anthocoridae, Corixidae, Mesoveliidae, Miridae (subfamily Deraeocorinae), Nabidae, Reduviidae (subfamily Emesinae), and Tingidae. The keys cover indigenous genera as well as adventive (introduced) genera that are known to be well established in New Zealand.
Further information on the nomenclature, taxonomy, geographical distribution and natural history of New Zealand Heteroptera fauna, is readily available in the New Zealand Catalogue of Heteroptera (Larivière & Larochelle, 2004) and associated Checklist supplement (Larivière & Larochelle, 2014).
